FTHRW 2013 Lories Best Published Contest

 

Contest Deadline August 10, 2013

 

The 2013 Lories Best Published is now accepting entries! Originating in 2002, this contest offers authors the opportunity to have their published books read and ranked alongside others of the same genre.

Who Can Enter?

Published authors of works of romantic fiction of 25,000 words or greater. FTHRW defines a published author as anyone who has, or previously had, an e-book or paperback book/novella available for sale.

 

What You Can Win:

Grand Prize Award of a paid registration fee for RWA, RT, or the writing conference of the winner’s choice up to a $400 value, or a cash prize of $200.

 

What to Enter:

Best Published Reader judges (those with no industry ties or who are working to publish works of fiction) read and rank books published in 2012 against other books of the same genre in the first round of competition. Categories accepted include: Historical, Contemporary Series, Inspirational, Erotica, Novella, Romantic Suspense, Single Title, Mainstream (includes NSRE), P/F/TT.

 

IMPORTANT:

ALL E-BOOKS, regardless of category, will be emailed to Heather Boey at heatherboey@yahoo.com. When sending your entry, please include the title and category of book in the subject line. ALL PRINT BOOKS, regardless of category, will be mailed to Ami Weaver.  Please email her at writerlygirl@gmail.com for the mailing address. Please put ‘Lories Address Request’ in the subject line.

Eligibility

Published authors of works of romantic fiction of 25,000 words or greater. FTHRW defines a published author as anyone who has, or previously had, an e-book or paperback book/novella available for sale.

This contest is open to authors published in romantic fiction in both print and electronically.

FTHRW considers all published books, regardless of RWA recognition, as eligible for The Lories Contest

For books published with first release dates of January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012. All entries should be author’s original work.

Notification

The finalists will be notified around September 30, 2013. The Lories Best Published Winner will be notified on or around October 30, 2013.

Entries will be accepted in electronic (PDF or HTML) OR print (book) format. See below for the guidelines. If you have problems sending electronically, the coordinator will do her best to assist you.

Each ELECTRONIC entry should include:

_____ One (1) copy of your book (PDF file or HTML file) to be e-mailed to the CONTEST COORDINATOR at Lories @ fthrw .com. All PDF or HTML formats must be in one file. The subject line of the email should include the title of the entry and category being entered.

_____ One (1) completed online Electronic Entry Form for each entry OR one (1) completed and signed official entry form and agreement to be mailed separately to Contest Coordinator:

_____ One (1) check or money order made out to “From The Heart Romance Writers” for the applicable entry fee for each entry should be sent to along with entry form to Contest Coordinator address above. If you would like to use a credit card or direct withdrawal from your checking or savings account, go to www.paypal.com, and send the applicable entry fee for each entry to FTHBOD@yahoo.com at a time prior to the entry deadline. Please specify contest category and entry title in the Notes section of payment screen.

_____ Make sure name of category and title is listed in the subject line of all e-mails.

_____ You will get a confirmation of the arrival of your entry. If you do not get a confirmation within two days of sending, please e-mail the contest coordinator at contest @ fthrw. com to ask if it was received.

_____ Electronic entries should be in HTML or PDF format only–in one file. Should your entry score highest in the category you entered, you will be contacted and required to mail a bound printed copy of your entry to the Contest Coordinator within seven days.

Each PRINT entry should include:

_____ Four (4) copies of your novel to the appropriate CATEGORY Coordinator at the address noted below.

_____ One (1) completed online Electronic Entry Form for each entry OR one (1) completed and signed official entry form and agreement to be mailed separately to CONTEST Coordinator: Contact to receive mailing address is Lories@fthrw.com

_____ One (1) check or money order made out to “From The Heart Romance Writers” for the applicable entry fee for each entry should be sent to along with entry form to Contest Coordinator address above. _____ Should your entry score highest in the category you entered, you will be contacted and required to mail another entry to the Contest Coordinator within seven days for final judging.

NOTE: The same manuscript may not be entered into more than one category, but different entries are welcomed in the same category. Pick the category that best fits your manuscript entry.

If the above rules aren’t met, the entry may be disqualified and entry fee may not be refunded.
