Laurie Darcey started her writing career in non-fiction but her creativity soon got the best of her. She has since completed several manuscripts, including an award-winning environmental romantic suspense and a Regency historical. Oh, yeah, and there’s also that perpetually half-finished cookbook she’s been writing with her critique partner/college roommate for the past 12 years, tentatively entitled The College Student’s Roadmap to Culinary Mediocrity. Laurie is a member of RWA with PRO status and current editor of the FTHRW chapter newsletter, Words From The Heart.

Laurie spends her copious free time traveling the world and dragging her husband along for the ride. On safari in Africa , she got trapped between a herd of rampaging hippopotami and an irritated bull elephant and lived to tell the tale. In the cold, dark waters of the Indian Ocean , she dove with 4-meter-long great white sharks. Twice. She’s been attacked by monkeys in Japan, gotten stuck in a ravine with two male lions in Kenya only to be saved by a 5-ft tall Masai warrior with a spear, gotten hot and thirsty at the pyramids in Egypt, narrowly avoided a coup d'état in Thailand, and walked part of the Great Wall of China by herself. Nowadays, she lives in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, planning her next trip and how she’s going to convince her husband to come along.
