It s easy to apply practical style tips and tricks to make your writing sophisticated, vivid, clever, and uniquely you! Each lesson in the workshop also has homework assignments, which include practicing on your own writing.
COURSE SYLLABUS:
1 Punctuation. The first step to style is learning how punctuation works.
2 Complex sentence structure. Once you ve learned punctuation, find out how to make those sentences more complex.
3 Concrete/original/vivid language. We ll talk about how to spice up your descriptions with unique language.
4 Schemes. Learn practical tips on how to depart from the normal pattern/arrangement of words (such as parallelism, alliteration, and climax).
5 Tropes. Learn practical tips on how to depart from the normal meaning of words (such as metaphor, puns, and irony).
6 Breaking the rules. We ll discuss to effectively bend those so-called writing rules.
Rhonda Stapleton has a Master's degree in English and a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing. She works as an editor for a legal publishing company and enjoys freelance editing and offering editing workshops.
