Mary, I thought it was a really interesting webinar. It wasn’t what I expected at all, which was a really nice surprise. Merien and I were in the background texting each other, “How can we get her to come back and teach a book formatting class for indies?” LOL
I read that semicolon “rule” in James Scott Bell’s books. I’ve seen writers use them now and then. I use them sparingly, the way I use exclamation points, and never in dialogue. Probably one or two in an entire 100K book, if at all. I think it’s one of those things that bother writers more than readers, though.
Happy editing this week!
Continuing to make progress on my contest entry and really enjoyed the judging webinar on Saturday! One thing Angela said really hit home, not to use semi-colons. I had been using those like crazy to make super long sentences.
I’m editing now so I’ll set a goal of two hours a day.
Have a great week everyone!
