Eons ago, a lot of book pundits would advise newbie writers (and oldbies as well) that “if you can’t FEEL it when you’re writing it, you’re not writing it well.” What we’re FEELING is that dopamine rush. That shiver up the spine. The catch in the breath. It’s why you can get literally lost–shutting out the real world–in a well-crafted, dopamine-pimping plot.
