I’m late to Regency and still find it weird. I’m a medievalist. I minored in medieval studies and did medieval reenactment for decades. I’ve recently developed a love for the late 18th century thanks to Hamilton and Outlander.
That’s okay (on the weird Regency). I think the paradigm with SF readers loving Regency romance is more that SF readers love the pageantry in stuff like Regency which is also found in medieval and such. SF is often about “other/alien culture” and historical settings/scenarios have that same other-worldly feel.
