After 11 months, I have finally gotten back on this and written chapter 7.
Millicent Blair is running for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania. She is a first-term commissioner in a small town who in an upset wins the Republican party over four more experienced candidates. Mark works for her opponent, the two-term incumbent who isn’t taking Milly seriously. His job is to follow her around the state and film everything she does and try to catch her saying something embarrassing.
What’s happened so far: Mark saves Milly from humiliation when he notices her skirt is unzipped before she goes on stage at a big rally. He tries to stop her, but she pushes him away, and her campaign manager has him arrested for assault, thinking her opponent put Mark up to this stunt.
She realizes what he is doing and goes to jail to bail him out. She finds out he has embarrassing video of her rear end, but he deletes the video.
In a meeting at campaign headquarters, Mark tells the staff they need to take Milly more seriously, that she is more than a pretty face.
Mark goes home to Harrisburg, but his sister Carolyn (who supports Milly) drags him to a Republican party fundraiser. She doesn’t know Milly is going to be there, and Mark bumps into Milly in the kitchen. Milly’s campaign manager, who wants to be Milly’s boyfriend, threatens to kick Mark out of the party. Milly says he can stay and wants to meet his sister, who notices that she flirts with Milly.
