I tend to either not show enough emotion or used “crutch” words (the old 9verly-used words) like “smiled,” “nodded,” and “gasped.”
We all use those crutch words in our first drafts. I strongly suggest that you get The Emotion Thesaurus, if you don’t already have it. I couldn’t live without it.
