Hi, Cheryl, Mary and all,
This week I met my goal of 2 hours a day. I edited a few chapters in my romantic historical women’s fiction and am waiting for my beta reader to get the next chapter back to me. She is a published author and her comments are very helpful to me. I am beta reading for her in return.
While I’m waiting for the next chapter, I also drafted 2 flash fiction (800 words maximum) for a woman’s magazine. I’ll let them sit for awhile and then edit. I always write too many words for this magazine and have to cut words before submitting. It’s a lesson in bare-bones writing. Not much room for background or world building and only room for one incident. I did sell a story to this magazine a couple of years back and I decided to submit again. There’s no guarantee any of my stories will get selected (they get 4,000 submissions a month) but it’s worth a try.
My goal for the upcoming week is continue editing, continue with the flash fiction and maybe pay attention to the two novellas that I’ve started and am just letting sit there on my hard drive!
Have a good week!
