Hi, Cheryl and all,
I averaged a little under 3 hours a day writing today. My goal is 2 hours a day. But there were a couple of days I only managed an hour and a half. I had some things I had to take care of come up. I’m 72 this year so I had to do the paperwork to trigger the required minimum disbursement for my deferred compensation. Then toward the end of last year, my bank changed companies that does it’s credit card so I had to switch over my auto pay for my cell phone to the new CC.
I thought I had done that, but missed a step in the procedure so 2 months of my phone bill failed to go through. I had to call my cell phone carrier to find out what the problem was and got that straightened out. Then I had a late payment (w months’ worth of payments) show up on my account with the carrier. So I called the carrier about paying that balance and got that squared away. So, that’s all taken care of now.
Now, I just have to get the form in to my deferred compensation plan’s office. I’m a little apprehensive about sending the form in by mail because I have to send a voided check with it and also fill in my social security number on it. I may hand carry the form into the office one day this week.
Despite these disruptions, I am pleased with the editing I’m doing on my contemporary novel, my short stories and my novellas. I wasn’t going to edit these again – thought I was done with that. But I have a wonderful beta reader who went over my historical novel. I learned so much from her that I decided to go over my other writing a gain and fond areas I can improve.
One of the criticisms I’ve gotten in the past from agents and editors is that they really don’t get to know my characters; I don’t put in enough about how the characters feel or how they’re reacting to what’s happening. So, I’m working on that and also adding back story without having an info dump. And in going over my writing again, I’m seeing where and how I can accomplish these.
Anyway, that’s all for this past week. Have a good week everyone.
