Hi, Cheryl and Dory,
I have to say, Dory, that it’s always upsetting when something goes wrong with the computer. I’ve got an old computer, too. Hope it’s been fixed since you posted.
This week again, I managed to write at least 2 hours a day. I think maybe I’m actually going to finish my edits for overly used words. Some day. I just realized I need to check for over using “that.” And boy, did I over use it. In all the 6 manuscripts I’m working on. Now that you mention the word “as,” I’m going to check my stories for that word, too.
I’m reading a book called Frugal Editor by Carolyn Howard-Johnson. She suggests using the Find function in the Editing tab in Word and typing a space before and a space after the word you’re searching for. Then it gives you just that word without bringing it up as a part of other words. So, if you’re searching for the word “hand,” you’d type in (space) hand (space). Then you don’t get it as parts of other words like “handsome” or “handshake” or “handle.” This is a very useful tip.
This author also wrote a very good book called Frugal Book Promoter. Marketing is a skill I’m weak in, so I need to learn marketing.
Anyway, that’s it for this week.
