I devoured those biographies too. There was a whole series of famous women’s childhoods, I loved. I am very disappointed in how biographies are written today. They are rarely in chronological order. Most are by theme and the continuity and growth of the person is lost. It was one of the reasons, I wanted to write these novels.
I am near the end of this Vinnie book, but can see unfortunately the weak parts of it as a novel are where I stick too close to history like in this chapter with the Sanitary Fair – it doesn’t really carry the story forward, though I think her idea of the letters was pretty fascinating. The Greek Slave is more important to her future and the plot. I cut that down a lot in my revising. I will rework it.
Thanks for the feedback.
