I don’t currently use a planner but I’m interested in possibly attending a planning event.  It sounds like a cool idea and I’m always open to learning about new ways to improve my writing productivity. 🙂

    Social Media Report

Postings 2xs a week on Instagram & Twitter.
Instagram & Twitter posts this month have included Pages From the Heart Contest related posts, upcoming workshop info, requests for workshop ideas-no response- and regular postings such as quotes etc. Allie the September workshop presenter made an awesome video for the September workshop and that was posted.
Posting to FB as good news or new members come in. Also posting upcoming workshop info.
Finally, I’m trying to come up with some mini tutorial social media tips or writing tips content for posting to Instagram & Twitter to generate more interaction and followers. Open to suggestions.

Thank you for hosting the Zoom Sprints Cheryl! They were super helpful with productivity for me.  While I didn’t hit my goal, I came pretty close with a word count of 4,206.  I’m happy that I was able to get that high of a word count based on the rest of what was going on last week.

My word count is only at 1,849.  I haven’t been as productive as I would like to be so far. This week I’ve been dealing with an unexpected health issue. Really enjoyed the Zoom sprint I was able to go to and hopefully I can make another one. I’ve got some catching up to do!

Monster bags are these cute little vintage purses that are designed to look like monster heads but not in a crazy gory way.  They are super cute.  If I hit my wordcount this week I’m debating over getting Frankenstein or Swamp Thing.

I’m going to try to make the zoom sprint tonight! Sad I had to miss last night.

Okay, I have to know. 😉 What’s a monster bag?

Hello! I’m really looking forward to participating!  Here are my goals for the week:

Your goal for the week: 5k words
Your sprint time(s) availability (with time zone) Evenings are best I’m CST.
The project you’re working on (you don’t have to be specific if you don’t want to) My next shifter novella. I’ve got it outlined and ready to go.
The reward you’re going to give yourself when you smash your goal! Treat myself to a Micheline Pitt Mosnter Bag!

    Excerpt F

There are multiple changes in this opener.  For me, the main change is when Derek lets the main character know that he bought a haunted house. I was like cool haunted house story!  The sentences after the mention of the haunted house did involve change ie the character had a huge life change in the form of moving and new romance.  I felt like those were more informational.

I felt like the emotions used were for the majority fear based but there was a little bit of core need due to the love/relationship between Derek and the main character.  To me the purchasing of the haunted house felt like a little bit like a loss of autonomy because Derek made a major decision that the main character is now wrapped up in this renovation without really being given the choice of taking the project on. Also, I get the very vague underlying feeling of extinction because the house is mentioned as being haunted. Haunted=ghosts which = death that brings me to the feeling of extinction.  So the mention of purchasing the haunted house kind of catches my attention on a few levels.

    Excerpt B

The opening starts out with the mention of the main character dying.  Death is the big change.

The big emotion could be fear based on extinction and some fear based of off mutilation.  Except B really caught my attention because it was like BAM Alona is dead.  I gotta find out what the heck is going on here. I need to be comforted and know that even though she is dead it is going to be okay.

I like the supernatural and both of these openings hinted at having supernatural elements because I’m just wired like that I guess.  Also, they were pretty direct in the setups so I knew what was potentially coming down the mountain.

It is really fascinating to read about brain science and how it can help with writing. Honestly I had never considered utilizing brain science with my writing . However, when I went back and looked at some of my past work for the “good stuff”, or what I considered the “good stuff”,  I was subconsciously doing it. The “bad stuff” was much more wordy and less driven by human emotion.
